The Old Hall located in Nether Alderley is understood to have been the home of the Stanley family, Lords of the Manor for over 300 years. The principal house was built for Sir Thomas Stanley in the early to mid 17th Century and the present property is probably an addition to the earliest hall of the 16th Century. A baroque front of 1754 was destroyed by fire in 1779 which led to the building of nearby Alderley Park. Fernstone House was originally a poorly functional 6-bedroom semi-detached dwelling that had been extended and altered significantly over many years, which had developed into a home that had no identity or functionality and require full house reinvention.
The Old Hall is one of the finest Grade II * country homes in Cheshire comprising of 6 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, 5 reception rooms, breakfast kitchen, utility room, cloakroom with w.c., games room with bar, workshop, garaging, hay store, gym, stable yard, tack room, store rooms and tennis court set within 11.75 acres.
