Saccary House has the potential to be a home of real character and distinction. From our initial commission our approach was to sensitively redevelop the property and allow the architectural design to provide further enhancement of the existing character and features within the buildings fabric.
It was important to review sustainable energy and ways of reducing energy use within the building, which allowed us to develop a detailed assessment of how we could introduce modern technology into this 17th century building. Within the early design development we prepared a detailed list of renewable technologies that would be included within the renovation and also examined ways of improving the fabric of the existing home to reduce energy use.
When developing the client brief the clients wanted to create a home that respected the existing property but introduced modern construction and technology, we finalised the brief to included solar atrium to the front south facing elevation, new entrance and landscaping to provide improve sense of arrival to the property, rear single storey extension with stone, glass and oak being the primary materials, two new porches, kitchen bay extension to create seating area and specific dining area, new feature staircase that starts in the heart of the period home and transverses through into the modern glass atrium to provide a connection and cohesion between the two spaces, new gallery landing creating mezzanine to the proposed feature family kitchen and apex feature window in the master bedroom to to advantage of the beautiful country setting and far reaching views.
Prior to submitting the application we completed a town planning review to acknowledge the most practicable approach to successfully gaining planning consent. The project has now starting construction and renovation works, we are looking forward to visiting the renovation soon.
